The Plastics in Medical Devices 2010 Conference, focusing on how plastics are enabling the design and development of advanced medical devices, is April 12-14, at LaCentre Conference Center in Westlake.
The Austen BioInnovation Institute in Akron is a supporting sponsor of the event, which aims to bring together all segments of the supply chain – polymer and equipment suppliers, product designers, plastics processors, medical device makers and pharmaceutical company end users – under one roof. The event is a view of the potential for commercialization at the intersection of biomaterials and medicine.
The conference starts at 1 p.m., Monday, April 12, with a pair of concurrent workshops. One session targets those new to the healthcare market who are eager to learn what is involved, while the other will help designers and engineers make the right polymer choices when developing injection molded medical devices.
The remaining two days will feature more than 30 presenters from such firms as AstraZeneca, Cleveland Clinic, GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson and a host of designers, plastics processors and suppliers.
Plastics News Global Group of Crain Communications Inc. organizes the event, which was held for the past three years in Brussels, Belgium.
Registration and conference details are available at http://www.plasticsinmedicaldevices.com.
